Any student made to slog through physics and keep at least an eye and ear while fantasising about the hottie in the opposite class would recollect the groan-inducing history of quantum mechanics read with such annoying hype and pauses that it makes you want to scream, “get over your confusion and get to the conclusion, is it a wave or a particle?”

The history of scientific discovery is of little relevance in applying scientific theory to practice, except in the case of the nature of light. From Newton and Huygens in the 17th century to Planck’s law and the Poisson spot, new scientific approaches seem to take contrasting sides in the debate of light as wave or particle till quantum mechanics reconciled these differences by positing the wave-particle duality, that light exists as both particle and wave. This duality is in many ways the foundation for the Anthropocene Age.
